Best Year in a Decade aka 2015

About December, 2015 After organizing my new(est) garage and cleaning the house of holiday festivities, I went to bed feeling great and exhausted about 3 AM. It came as a surprise to me when I woke, energized at 5:30 this New Year's Eve, but I suppose that's how the year has been... If you know me, the last decade has been a bit.. rough in many ways. I can't complain (and I'm not), but there have been challenges and decisions I never would have thought would be a part of my life. Through the trials, my two girls and I have had varying degrees of success in our relationships with the world around us, each other, with finding our place in new homes more often than I felt I had the energy for and in handling the many battles that seemed to come our way. Typically, I stay more on the side of business in my blog and a bit restrained when it comes to sharing, but this year, I can't be thankful enough our more humbled and excited for the future that is building and b...

Life without Ritual (part 2)

Which brings me to "consistently inconsistent." Quick story... Brent Carlson, perhaps one of the most solid and reliable sales men I've worked with (now a Clear Channel Rep), once told me I talk in a triangle. I start here, then go up to some other area, down to another topic and back to the original subject or question. I have gathered information from the thousands of novels, articles, dictionaries and conversations I've had and it makes me think in a dimension that isn't just a Q and A. Hard to explain, but with the advent of the Internet, maybe some of you can understand that we are no longer living in a linear definition of life. There is a plethora of opportunities and abilities. I believe that a way to move forward with gusto, confidence and ex...

Life Without Ritual

or A Guide to Escaping Mental Mind Traps (part 1) Written with a style dedicated to Rockie and Bullwinkle. Here's to never finishing the story. "Consistently inconsistent," my Dad says. It's a sentiment I've heard before, but never so eloquently put. And that would be my Dad. He's an example of power through minimal words, a man Lincoln would praise for his ability to use the least syllables while expressing absolute meaning. Unlike this paragraph and unlike me, most of the time. Allow me to digress... The world is in a period of obvious drastic change. 'The End of Times,' some say. The End of Times...    Not the End of Time,    Not the End of the World. What are 'times,' anyhow?    Let's start where I learned to and then go backwards in case I was taught wrong. We start off by defining the first word and gaining an understanding of the core concept, then the whole (thank you, Gary Mullanax). Try to stay with me...    ...
