Best Year in a Decade aka 2015

About December, 2015 After organizing my new(est) garage and cleaning the house of holiday festivities, I went to bed feeling great and exhausted about 3 AM. It came as a surprise to me when I woke, energized at 5:30 this New Year's Eve, but I suppose that's how the year has been... If you know me, the last decade has been a bit.. rough in many ways. I can't complain (and I'm not), but there have been challenges and decisions I never would have thought would be a part of my life. Through the trials, my two girls and I have had varying degrees of success in our relationships with the world around us, each other, with finding our place in new homes more often than I felt I had the energy for and in handling the many battles that seemed to come our way. Typically, I stay more on the side of business in my blog and a bit restrained when it comes to sharing, but this year, I can't be thankful enough our more humbled and excited for the future that is building and b

Why I dig this email campaign. 4 Reasons.

Need a bit of insight for holiday marketing? If you do online sales, here's a great way to get your email list working for you. If you don't have one of those yet or it's not compiled, get to work on it. Set a goal to have 20+ emails or some reasonable number and send a campaign. Send it each week to new sign ups and once a month to the whole list. Use these four insights from a great campaign to help craft the right messaging. First, the email message, subject line and implied market was perfect. The busy, travelling female who struggles to have quality while flying. Great, super niche. The email subject was just used for the opening line to get you into the message, which brought you to some great, easy email content. Subject: "Don't let TSA Snag Your Favorite Products"  plus their offer in quotes. Offer is at the top of the imaging and the products are below the primary message/emotion: "good style travels" After they do an incredi

The Best of My World

Or What Takes Your Life Time? Me working for fun at StartupWeekend in Ogden, Utah. Yup, that's a paper towel in my hair. I work a lot. Those very closest to me say I'm a bit obsessed and they're somewhat right. I have the opportunity to take something I got into and was good at to the things I love and care about in the world. This gets me goin' -motivates me through creative blocks, emotional downtimes and helps me to strive to do better work, smarter work, more work. You get the picture. There's been trip ups and errors, but it all started when I was a kid. We all had our own world when we were little (as far as I can tell) and when I was little, my world was super serious, creative, social, motivating and a lot of fun... Little Jenni Mason I can remember wanting a briefcase. I saw one recently on a Netflix series and had that childlike urge - for a briefcase? I smiled thinking of what I was like. I made up my own homework and did it over and

I Don't Know What That Means or There's Nothing I Can Do

I would have swapped the titles' order, but it seemed to make the concept too obvious. Distort your own time! In the movies, there's sometimes a person who works a lot. Their family tries to involve them more with activities, get them off the phone or to avoid meetings. Sometimes if it's a dramatic plot, you'll hear "Your just working all the time to avoid your family and the people who care about you." Sometimes I feel like that, not like the person (because a. they aren't real and, b. no one tells me that) but I feel like I'm avoiding people. Here's the thing (and it sounds weird) It's not on purpose, but it is a choice.  I don't mean to avoid anyone or make them feel I don't care about what they are doing. I could pay attention to everyone, remember birthdays, second and third tier holidays, but I don't choose to take that time. I'm using my time for other things, and I think that's okay. We Are What We Do N
