After a 5am text and a 6:30 call back, the morning began. Filled with complex issues we'd been wrestling with in the oil & gas world, my cohort and I discussed all available options, regardless of feasibility or implications. The conversation was rewarding and my mind went alight.
Then the morning took a brief turn when another conversation became doubt filled and worrisome.
In comes my email box.
First subject line: Always be Batman.
(Thanks, Hot Topic)
In business, I have the choice to be any version of my self to make the most money or to cover any inadequacies. All people have that choice and at times, my insecurities have caused me to behave in a manner or to represent myself in a way that wasn't true to me. Today, I've learned that having mentors, admitting shortcomings and finding flexibilities in my fields are the best way to both learn to be of the most value to my peers and also to propel myself the farthest.
I love my work and now that I have moved into a field of utmost importance in my mind, I am grateful for the Batman like abilities we have to fix complex problems and bring about a myriad of solutions to any particular situation. Even if an idea isn't correct, it may eliminate an option and is still of some value. If you've seen the Lego movie, you may also appreciate that the song "Everything is Awesome" is my families song of the summer this year. When you're part of a team, everything is awesome. I am not just my value, I am also the value of those around me and in some cases, their associated networks. Some of us are working on providing a clean earth solution in a variety of fields and I'm working with minds that enlighten me with new information daily. I am grateful.
I know somewhat what I'm doing and am sure I am on my correct path, so details of the world are quickly falling from sight. A focused vision is what compels Batman to always be Batman. If we, all a Bruce Wayne in daily life regardless of social class, decide to be Batman in our realm, focusing on what is important to us for the world that we live in, many complex issues would be solved simply and through collaboration. It only takes a few of us to move a mountain.
