Marketing Workshops Coming Right Up!

I've been asked quite a few times in the past year to do training sessions for companies, Chamber of Commerce and expo events and now, we have a home to do them consistently. The first session will be on November 16th and will focus on custom apps for your business and online optimization. These two mission critical topics will be discussed and you'll get some great materials to take with you as well as free and discounted resources.

There's never been a time in my life where I haven't enjoyed public speaking. From getting lost at Johanna's Kitchen as a kid to speaking at the United Mosquito Abatement Association's annual event last year, there are not a lot of topics that scare me. It's pretty exciting to now have a home where I can teach whenever I want and I'd love your support for our first sessions. There will be an hour of training, a half hour of Q&A and you'll leave with step-by-step guides I've created to make your life easier and less stressful when approaching apps and mobile optimization.

Apps can be simple or complex and can help to brand your business, increase engagement and drive sales. You don't need full time IT to create an app but you do need resources and some general information to get you started. Even more critical to every business is mobile optimization. How does Google see your business? Where do you come up on Maps and review sites? We'll cover this topic in-depth and get you free resources as well as some offers from partner companies to help you save money as well.

Details and tickets are available on EventBrite.com or feel free to contact me directly. If you sign up for the workshop by the 10th, you'll also get a free consultation so we can customize the session to your specific needs. I'm excited to be offering ongoing training sessions and welcome your input on what you'd like to focus on. There's a survey online here at Survey Monkey or send me an email with your ideas.

Thanks for the support and please, share as these workshops grow and help us to expand businesses in Salt Lake. You are much appreciated and here's to your success!

Clearing out your spaces

For the last part of 2011, I suggest on my Facebook page and will duplicate the suggestion here, that you clean out your spaces. From offices to people, from thoughts to visualizations, it's time to clean up anything that stands between you and your goals for the future. 2012 is going to be monumental-where do you want to be? Head into that office space, tackle the filing cabinet and get an orderly system together so that you can be successful and calm while you complete tasls and meet goals. You will feel better and more focused if you know where your working items are and your space will be supportive of you meeting your goals and making it through obstacles. Put up an old fashioned calendar to keep you reminded of important dates and meeting times before they get there. Think of what you will need to succeed and contact anyone you could use for advice and mentoring. Your thoughts will create your reality and if there are any blank spaces or questions, use your social media or ...

Past My Limit or Internal Lies. Three tips on personal motivation.

Every time I say to myself that I have reached my limit or that I'm past my limit, I have the instant emotional response that it's just not true. Like most, throughout my life I've had a variety of experiences, some pretty harsh trials and many lessons in endurance and perseverance. Here's a few tips on how to keep going when you feel there is no possible way you can. 1. Ignore reality. Not completely, but in some ways ignore the elements that make you feel there is no way out. Relationships that are ending, finances that are drained and the faith of others in your talents that has just run out are all real and actual problems. In personal and professional realms, there are times when you just can't see moving forward nor feel you have the strength to do so. I suggest you ignore it a little and get out of your current perspective. I can recall the day I drove into Millcreek Broadcasting, a small Utah radio group, to apply for a job. At twenty two I hadn't h...

Startup Weekend_One week later

It's been one week since the Startup Weekend in Salt Lake and I've had a bit of time to process the event, the outcome and my personal experiences with this phenomenal three day marathon. First, let me say that I heard of this event after complaining that Utah didn't have a lot of entrepreneurial type conferences. I take back some of what I said and have to admit, if a single event were to come to this state in lieu of all others, I'd be okay with Startup Weekend being that event. For those of you not familiar, this is a competition where people pitch ideas, research, plan and execute a group of start up businesses in a three day period. That said, here's more about the event- what I would do differently, some of my favorite aspects and what's happened since last Saturday. If I had it all to do over again, I'd do almost all of it different. I don't know if I've ever felt that way before, but it's true for Startup Weekend. For example, I would ha...
